Welcome to The Antiquary Bar.

The Antiquary Bar

Named after the famous book “The Antiquary” by Sir Walter Scott, the Antiquary Bar is a basement bar which has been situated on St Stephen Street for around 35 years.

The bar origionally opened as a high class restaurant amongst Antique shops and shortly after as a popular bar. There has only been minor changes appearance and character over the years. (read more…)

“Was looking for a pub that did food where we could take our lakeland terrier on our first night stay in Edinburgh. Read reviews and was not disappointed. The food was amazing, atmosphere warm and welcoming and as it was a Thursday night was treated to live music by a folk group. It was a fantastic night and would highly recommend giving this place a visit.”

Located in the heart of the Stockbridge in Edinburgh, we offer a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. We are particularly known for our extensive range of draught lagers, gins and whisky selection.

Our menu offers a lot more than standard “pub grub”. As well as offering a few pub favourites, we also provide full breakfasts, roast dinners and seasonal menus to showcase our popular special dishes. We believe there is something for everyone to enjoy at The Antiquary.

This was our regular bar during our stay in Edinburgh. A variety of beers and Ales are served and also Whisky’s can be tasted. Delicious food is served until late and also a very good scottish breakfast. Very friendly stuff always up for a small chat and some tips for the city.
So THIS is a real pub how it should be…dark, beers, whiskeys and nice staff.

The Antiquary Bar is a great pitstop for any local or visitor to Edinburgh. We host regular events including our Pub Quiz and Folk Music Nights. We also show all major sporting events on premises. Also, as a dog friendly pub we cater to those who just want to stop by for a quick bite after their walk.

So, why not pop in to wet your whistle and fill your bellies!
